Office Progress

I have successfully avoided doing actual de-cluttering of my office by shopping for it! Had an adventure lugging home 70lbs of diy shelves which collapsed and broke upon completion. Lugged it all back and returned it, then invested in shelves already in one piece at twice the price. You get what you pay for. The second store also carried them to my car for me.

Today, I bought a rug and a new chair and found a silly bulletin board that just happened to complement it all. My desk chair had been hopelessly low and ineffecively padded with pillows. Now I have a short barstool that is a little to tall but makes me feel so much better!

C.R.A.P.

First things first. Have to organize my office, such as it is. My little corner of the basement is where I stash everything when I run out of time to truly put things away properly. That has to stop. My brain requires a clean space. Not a very friendly little corner either. We'll see what we can do.

I bought another set of shelves with some of my Christmas money. Already had trouble with those. The bottom assembly tipped while being assembled so 2 of the attach points are not secure. To satisfy my mock-OCD I will need to find the wood putty and re-do those points. Gack.

Also in my way of setting up the shelves is a pile of unsorted crap in front of the shelves I am replacing, which also need to be taken apart and re-appointed. So, I'm back to the pile of crap I was avoiding in the first place by shopping for shelves.

Crap. Needs a nice acronym definition. Let's see... continually regenerating... assorted... pile. Eh. Because it's not really crap. It's good stuff. I get rid of actual crap. This stuff just needs to be assigned a "proper place" as it were.

This sounds fun again

As of 3:30 today I'm on winter break; I just recently figured out how to fix my camera; and I just knit my first stitches since visiting New York in July.
Prepared in July to take on staging a new version of La Fille Mal Gardee (apologies, I don't know how to accent the e and will look into it). Then discovered that we were going to do another Nutcracker Ballet Tea Party in addition to the new ballet. Fast forward to today: Both ballets turned out fabulous! Thanks to 3 snow days recently I have begun to remedy the squalorous state to which my house had retreated. And I knit something! It was just a little Christmas ornament for Mini-Me's teacher, but it was knitting! And I am sewing some Christmas presents this week with time to spare. Ahhhh.
Pix of craftiness forthcoming. Enjoy the pretty ballet in the meantime.

PINK & GREEN

Actually, amazingly, pretty...despite all the PINK and GREEN.

Quilt Square

I made more of the little trees for a quilt square. It's for a quilt being made for my cousin and his fiancee by her family.

The square is little wrinkly here. I had just washed it and steamed it but it needed more time to relax. I couldn't wait to take the pictures as I had to deliver the square.

Since working on this I can't bring myself to knit right now. I am working on the PINK embroidery again. Actually, I have finished with the PINK part and am working on the greenery. It is a rather pukey avocado GREEN that reminds me more of luminescent celery, but, amazingly, all together the embroidery is looking nice!

Higgledy-piggeldy

Here are my new circular needle cases. They are empty CD jewel cases. Got that idea in a Ravelry forum. Thanks, Ravelry! It works for up to about size 10.

Here is the status of the Bitty shirts to go with their new outfits.

And here they are in their winter gear. Proud of these as I made up the pattern by putting two other patterns together and making some adjustments and embellishments.

Jessie & Bill are ready for school

Mini-me has a list of clothes for the Bits in order of importance. First, they needed winter outerwear. Now they need school clothes. Here is part of their new school clothes. "Jessie" will get a pink shirt also. And "Bill" will get a blue long-sleeve shirt. They are wearing their original American Girl shirts in this photo.

Mini-me has always been about priorities. When she was three and we were buying room sets for her kitty house she determined that the first need was for a bathroom!

Also on the Bits list are dressy clothes (in case we take them to a party), robes, and ballet clothes for Bill. Jessie has girl's ballet wear from American Girl.

Ballet Update: We have four students accepted to The Rock School Summer Intensive. So they have at least one choice for the summer!
